Type Locality and Naming

It was named by the No. 2 Regional Survey Party under the Geological Bureau of Heilongjiang Province in 1981. The naming section is located at 10 km west of the Murui Farm of the Ergune Left Banner, Inner Mongolia. Middle formation in Xing'anlin Gr.

Synonym: (木瑞组)


Lithology and Thickness

Composed of siltstone, argillaceous siltstones, conglomerates, sandy conglomerates, tuffaceous siltstones and sandstones, intercalated with volcanoclastics, with a thickness of 21-187 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It is in a conformable contact with the underlying Jixiangfeng Fm

Upper contact

It is in a conformable contact with the overlying Shangkuli Fm volcanics

Regional extent

The formation is distributed north of the Ergune Left Banner Farm, south of the Acan Animal Farm, the Wunur-Genhe River and Boketu region. The lithology of the formation is less changeable in various regions.

Fossils

It yields spinicaudatan fossils as represented by Nestoria pissovi; and plant fossils such as Conipteris silapensis.


Age 

Schematic stratigraphic column suggests a Kimmeridgian age; but "conformable with overlying Shangkuli Fm" would imply goes into lowermost Cretaceous. For graphic purposes, put as Kimm-Berr here.
